Antiseptic Skin Preparation

Antiseptic skin preparation substances are applied to the skin to reduce the number of microbial flora at an intravascular catheter insertion site. These products also may be used for catheter site care/dressing changes. Examples include alcohols, chlorhexidine, iodine, sodium hypochlorite.
