Respirators

Respirators are worn when healthcare personnel (1) may be exposed to very small particles (e.g., fine aerosolized droplets) such as those produced by coughing, (2) care for patients with known or suspected tuberculosis per Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and CDC guidelines (3) care for patients with known or suspected severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) or avian influenza.
