Choose a Silverlon® dressing that covers the wound bed and up to 1-2cm (½-1”) of normal skin around the wound. Moisten Silverlon® with clean water or Saline and wring out excess. Place silver side down onto the wound. The effectiveness of the dressing is increased by wetting the Silverlon® Pad.
Remove and dispose of the outer absorbent cover dressings as necessary. Gently remove Silverlon®. If wound or dressing appears dry, add water or saline to the dressing. Dispose of Silverlon®, or, if protocols permit reuse, rinse Silverlon® thoroughly with clean water or saline to rinse away any exudate that maybe on the dressing. The dressing can be stretched by its corners to open up its weave and help loosen the exudate from the cloth. Gently squeeze out excess water or saline, and reapply to wound while moist. The dressing may be left in place for up to 7 days depending on the amount of wound drainage and necrotic tissue present.
For exudating wounds, cover with an appropriate absorbent dressing. For dry wounds, use with a moisture donating dressing, such as a hydrogel, hydrocolloid, pre-moistened foam or gauze, film, or other moisture control dressing.
